Breast Reduction in Mexico City

Back pain affects 4.9% of women with a B cup and 85% of those with a DD or E cup. Your pain is not a coincidence, and it has a solution: 95% of operated patients are satisfied and 96% would do it again.

What it is and how it works

we remove breast tissue, fat and skin, reposition the nipple and create a shape proportionate to your body. The mechanism of relief is easy to understand: when we remove that weight, your trunk’s center of gravity returns to a more neutral position, your spine recovers its natural curve, and the back muscles that were contracted all day to compensate finally relax. That is what reduces the pain.

What it treats, in detail

How we do it here

two things define your result and we decide them with you. The first is the final size: there is no correct number, there is the one you like within what your anatomy and your symptom relief allow, and that is a conversation. The second is the technique, and here is something rarely explained to younger patients: the possibility of breastfeeding in the future depends above all on preserving the column of tissue running from the nipple to the chest wall, where the ducts travel. So if you want to keep that possibility, the choice of pedicle stops being purely our technical decision and becomes part of the conversation with you. We mark you standing, take measurements, and document everything with standardized clinical photography. And if your case warrants it, we prepare the corresponding medical documentation.

Who it’s for

if you have symptoms attributable to your breast volume, with stable weight and no smoking. Also if asymmetry between sides is marked.

Who it’s not for

we do not operate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with unresolved breast imaging, or with active infection. If you smoke, the risk of necrosis is real, especially with long pedicles, and it is reason to postpone. If your weight is unstable or there is uncontrolled obesity, complications increase and it is better to address that first.

What to expect

  1. 01

general anesthesia with a regional block, outpatient surgery lasting 4 to 6 hours, with drains.

  2. 02

Many patients describe relief from the weight on the very first day.

  3. 03

You will wear a postoperative bra day and night for the first month, and the second month at night only.

  4. 04

From day one we will ask you to do light walking and slow, controlled breast movement, because moving early helps.

  5. 05

And something that sets us apart: in all our breast surgeries we include a rapid recovery protocol with 5 hyperbaric chamber sessions and 5 individualized dermatofunctional physiotherapy sessions, because recovery is treated, not simply waited out.

  6. 06

The breast settles over 3 to 6 months: the shape at one month is not the final shape.

  7. 07

You can drive at 2 weeks and resume exercise at 4 weeks.

  8. 08

Scars mature over 12 to 18 months.

  9. 09

The tissue we remove is always sent for pathology.

Risks and what we tell you honestly

scars are inherent and in large reductions they are extensive, with the anchor pattern. There can be changes in nipple sensation and impact on breastfeeding, although technique plays a decisive role. And there is an honest nuance we want you to know: although satisfaction and pain relief are very high and consistent, imaging-based studies on measurable spinal changes are contradictory. That is why we speak of documented symptom relief, not of correcting the spine. Your result can also change with weight gain or pregnancy.

Beyond aesthetics

this is, together with diastasis repair, the surgery with the best functional evidence in our entire catalog, and we give you the data.

First, there is randomized clinical trial evidence, the highest level: a meta-analysis pooling 7 randomized trials with 285 participants found statistically significant improvements in pain, physical function and psychological function, all three at very high significance.

Second, and this is what shows your pain is not a coincidence: there is a direct relationship between breast size and pain. The prevalence of back pain rises from 4.9% in a B cup to 85% in a DD or E cup, and pain intensity rises in the same proportion. Each additional centimeter of band length raises the likelihood of pain by almost 20%, and a large cup size is associated with up to 12 times greater odds. When something increases as the cause increases, it stops being chance.

Third, on posture: there is a systematic review with meta-analysis dedicated specifically to the impact of reduction mammaplasty on back pain and posture in patients with macromastia.

And fourth, the benefit is not fleeting: in adolescents and young women, significant improvement in physical, psychosocial and sexual well-being has been documented, with mental health benefits lasting up to a decade after surgery. There is literature documenting macromastia as an economic burden in healthcare, and studies showing its significant negative effect on social life, self-esteem and quality of life. That is why breast reduction is recognized as potentially medically necessary: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes coverage criteria and an evidence-based clinical practice guideline specific to this procedure, which is not the case for most aesthetic surgeries. In consultation we explain what documentation is required. We prepare your medical file in the format insurers usually request: letter of medical necessity, clinical photographs, examination report documenting your symptoms and prior treatment, labs and the pathology report. We guide you on how to submit it. We are a direct-pay center: we do not bill or manage the process with your insurer, but we give you everything you need to do it. Myth vs reality

Myth

“Breast reduction is a cosmetic surgery.”

Reality

it is among the few procedures in the specialty with documented functional benefit, which is why some insurers consider it medically necessary when symptoms are present. We also tell you what few mention: the most widely used scale for coverage decisions, the Schnur scale, has been questioned even by its own author, and in a validation study it excluded 44% of patients with very severe breast burden. If you were denied, the problem may be the scale, not your case.
