Sclerotherapy for Varicose and Spider Veins in Mexico City

It is the first-line treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins; each session eliminates most of the treated veins.

Minimally invasiveBook a consultation

What it is and how it works

we inject a substance directly into the vein. That substance irritates the wall from inside, makes the vein close and, over time, your body reabsorbs it and it disappears from view. Depending on the size of the vein, we use liquid or foam.

What it treats, in detail

Who it’s for

people with spider veins or small varicose veins that bother them cosmetically and want to improve them without surgery or downtime.

Who it’s not for

we do not use it in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with sclerosant allergy, active thrombosis or phlebitis, infection, or immobility. And something important: before treating only the cosmetic side, it is worth ruling out underlying venous insufficiency with a Doppler ultrasound, because if there is a bigger problem, it must be addressed first.

What to expect

  1. 01

it is done in a series, with several injections per session and sessions weeks apart.

  2. 02

Each session eliminates between half and 80% of the treated veins.

  3. 03

Compression stockings are used afterward, and the result appears over weeks to months.

  4. 04

    Low discomfort, no real downtime.

Risks and what we tell you honestly

it is very safe. The effects to know, and we always warn you, are two common cosmetic nuisances: hyperpigmentation along the treated vein, usually temporary, and “matting”, the appearance of new very fine veins. Also, large varicose veins respond less and may need laser or ablation, not just sclerotherapy.

Myth vs reality

Myth

“One session makes all my varicose veins disappear.”

Reality

each session eliminates a good part, but several are almost always needed. Large varicose veins require another technique, and before anything we check that there is no underlying venous insufficiency. Be wary of anyone who promises everything in a single session.
