Breast Lift (Mastopexy) in Mexico City

A lift gives shape, not volume. Understanding that difference is what leads you to the right choice.

What it is and how it works

we reposition the nipple and areola to their correct height, reshape the tissue and remove the excess skin. A sagging breast is not only about excess skin: internal support was also lost and the upper pole emptied. That is why the surgery does not just trim skin, it also repositions and secures the tissue inside. The result is a breast back in place, with better shape and projection.

What it treats, in detail

How we do it here

the technique is not chosen by preference, it is chosen by the degree of descent we measure. We mark you standing, measure the distance from your collarbone to the nipple and from the nipple to the fold, and that gives the answer: mild descent may need only a scar around the areola; moderate adds a vertical scar; and significant descent requires the inverted-T pattern. We show you exactly where your scar will be before operating, because that is the most important conversation in this surgery. If volume is also missing, we explain the options: implant, auto-augmentation with your own tissue, or fat grafting. And we document everything with standardized clinical photography so your result can be compared objectively.

Who it’s for

if your nipple sits at or below the fold, if your breast emptied and dropped, or if a widened areola bothers you. Stable weight, no immediate pregnancy plans, and an understanding that there will be scars.

Who it’s not for

we do not operate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection, or with unresolved breast imaging. If you smoke, the risk of skin and nipple necrosis is real and significant, and it is reason to postpone until you stop. And if what you want is volume rather than position, a lift alone will not give it to you.

What to expect

  1. 01

general anesthesia with a regional block, outpatient surgery lasting 4 to 6 hours, with drains.

  2. 02

You will wear a postoperative bra day and night for the first month, and the second month at night only.

  3. 03

From day one we will ask you to do light walking and slow, controlled breast movement, because moving early helps.

  4. 04

And something that sets us apart: in all our breast surgeries we include a rapid recovery protocol with 5 hyperbaric chamber sessions and 5 individualized dermatofunctional physiotherapy sessions, because recovery is treated, not simply waited out.

  5. 05

The breast settles over 3 to 6 months: the shape at one month is not the final shape.

  6. 06

You can drive at 2 weeks and resume exercise at 4 weeks, since there is no implant.

  7. 07

Scars mature over 12 to 18 months: they look red at first and lighten over time.

Risks and what we tell you honestly

there is always a scar. The honest discussion is not whether there will be one, but where it goes and how extensive it is. There can be changes in nipple sensation and impact on the ability to breastfeed, and we tell you that before, not after. Other risks are asymmetry, areolar widening and, less often, healing or blood-supply problems. And something important: ptosis can recur. Weight, gravity and a later pregnancy all play a role, which is why the result is long-lasting but not permanent. As for the numbers, we give them to you: revision after mastopexy is reported at around 14.6%, rising to roughly 26% when only a periareolar incision is used. That explains why the technique is chosen by the degree of descent we measure and not by the scar you would prefer: forcing a short scar on a descent that does not allow it is what leads to reoperation.

Beyond aesthetics

in heavy, descended breasts, a lift resolves irritation and dermatitis in the fold, improves bra and clothing fit, and removes the need for daily adaptations. To that adds the psychosocial impact documented in breast surgery with validated instruments.

Myth vs reality

Myth

“An implant will lift my breasts.”

Reality

no. An implant adds volume and projection, but it does not raise the nipple. If your breast has already dropped and you only add an implant, you will have a larger breast that is just as low, and worse over time, because the added weight pulls downward. If you need a lift, we lift; if volume is also missing, we combine. We will tell you clearly even when that means a surgery with more scarring.
