Hybrid Breast Augmentation in Mexico City
Fat is not used to add volume: it is used so the edge of the implant does not show.
What it is and how it works
it is an implant augmentation to which we add a small amount of your own fat, placed in very specific areas. If you have little tissue coverage, the upper and inner edge of the implant can become visible or palpable, and the décolleté shows an abrupt transition, that “step” that reveals there is an implant. The grafted fat adds a layer of soft tissue over those transition zones, so the margin of your breast looks like that of a natural breast of the same size. The implant provides the volume; the fat provides the naturalness.
What it treats, in detail
- Softening the décolleté transition in thin patients or those with little coverage.
- Concealing visible or palpable implant edges, including from a previous surgery.
- Correcting small contour asymmetries an implant alone cannot resolve.
- Achieving the most natural possible result in the upper pole.
How we do it here
everything from implant augmentation applies, including shared decision-making and Divina simulation, which can also specifically simulate the hybrid result. To that we add assessment of your fat donor areas and measurement of coverage thickness by quadrant, to define exactly where that reinforcement is needed. The graft is placed in small, targeted volumes by zone, not in large amounts, and with specific instrumentation designed not to damage the implant.
Who it’s for
thin patients or those with little tissue coverage, anyone with an abrupt décolleté transition, anyone with visible edges from a previous surgery, and anyone seeking the most natural possible result. It requires sufficient fat donor area.
Who it’s not for
if you do not have enough donor fat, if you expect to gain significant volume from the fat, or if you smoke, because tobacco directly compromises graft survival. Also not during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with active infection.
What to expect
- 01
general anesthesia with a regional block, outpatient surgery lasting 4 to 6 hours, with drains.
- 02
You will wear a postoperative bra day and night for the first month, and the second month at night only.
- 03
From day one we will ask you to do light walking and slow, controlled breast movement, because moving early helps.
- 04
And something that sets us apart: in all our breast surgeries we include a rapid recovery protocol with 5 hyperbaric chamber sessions and 5 individualized dermatofunctional physiotherapy sessions, because recovery is treated, not simply waited out.
- 05
The breast settles over 3 to 6 months: the shape at one month is not the final shape.
- 06
You can drive at 2 weeks and resume exercise between 6 and 8 weeks because of the implant.
- 07
Care of the liposuction donor area is added, with a compression garment.
Risks and what we tell you honestly
you add the risks of the implant and those of fat grafting. From the fat: part of it resorbs, which is expected, and it can form fat necrosis, oil cysts or calcifications, which sometimes appear on imaging and require assessment. For that same reason we do not offer large-volume fat-only augmentation: it is not a commercial stance, it is that its complications are more frequent and its results less predictable. And one more thing: much of the support for the hybrid concept comes from manufacturer-associated literature, and we prefer you to know that.
Beyond aesthetics
the data from implant augmentation apply, with documented improvements of almost 48 points in breast satisfaction and 38 in psychosocial well-being. The specific benefit of the hybrid is qualitative: a natural breast margin and an implant that does not show, which is exactly what most patients describe when they say “I want it to look like mine.”
Myth vs reality
Myth
“Breasts can be augmented with fat alone, without an implant.”
Reality
they can, but at large volumes complications are more frequent (fat necrosis, cysts, calcifications) and the result is less predictable, which is why we do not offer it that way. In the hybrid, fat plays a different role, and one that is well grounded: improving transition and coverage, not providing volume.
