Liposuction in Mexico City

Liposuction is for contour, not weight loss. It is measured in centimeters and proportion, not kilos.

What it is and how it works

we remove localized fat that does not respond to diet or exercise, through small incisions and with cannulas. But something determines your result more than how much fat we remove: your skin elasticity. The fat goes, and then the skin has to retract over the new contour. If your skin has good quality, the result is smooth; if it has lost elasticity, aspirating more does not improve anything, quite the opposite. That is where an honest assessment begins.

What it treats, in detail

How we do it here

we work with tumescent technique, the safety standard on which all modern modalities operate, and we choose the technology according to your tissue: power assistance when efficiency matters in large volumes, or third-generation ultrasound when there are fibrous areas, previous surgeries, or when we want to work the superficial plane. We mark you standing, defining the areas to be aspirated and also those we do not touch, which matter just as much. We measure your body composition with InBody and record your starting point with 3D scanning, so the change can be compared objectively and not by impression. And something worth knowing before anyone sells you a device: the literature shows all modalities achieve comparable fat removal, and that the durability of your contour depends above all on weight stability and habits, not on the device used. Technology changes precision and recovery, not the result you maintain. And if we see that your skin will not retract well, we tell you and propose other options.

Who it’s for

if you are near your weight, have localized fat that does not respond, and your skin retains good elasticity. It is contour and proportion, not weight reduction.

Who it’s not for

it is not an obesity treatment. If your goal is weight loss, nutrition or the corresponding medical program comes first, and contour afterward. Also not if you have significant excess skin, because there the solution is resection rather than aspiration, nor with coagulation disorders, significant cardiopulmonary disease or pregnancy.

What to expect

  1. 01

general anesthesia with a regional block to control pain, lasting 2 to 6 hours depending on the areas treated.

  2. 02

We recommend one night of hospitalization to monitor you and manage pain properly.

  3. 03

Drains are placed in all our body contouring surgeries.

  4. 04

You will wear compression garments for 3 months, with first- and second-stage garments from a specialized Brazilian brand, changing stages as swelling subsides.

  5. 05

Your recovery is not just waiting: it includes an intensive physiotherapy protocol with lymphatic drainage, device-assisted therapy and dermatofunctional physiotherapy, with two clear goals, modulating fibrosis and getting the most from your skin’s retraction without leaving sequelae.

  6. 06

Hyperbaric chamber sessions are added to that.

  7. 07

Exercise at 4 to 6 weeks.

  8. 08

Final contour appears between 3 and 6 months, when swelling subsides and the skin finishes retracting.

Risks and what we tell you honestly

we give you the numbers. In a meta-analysis, the overall complication rate was around 2.62%, and the most frequent is contour irregularity, at about 2.35%. Serious complications are rare, below 0.1%. So the most frequent issues are irregularities, depressions and fibrosis, and they depend on technique, plane and aftercare. There is also seroma, extensive bruising, temporary changes in sensation and residual laxity. And there are three things liposuction does not do, which we prefer to tell you beforehand: it does not remove excess skin, it does not correct separation of the abdominal muscles, and it does not reach the fat inside the abdomen. If your abdomen protrudes because of visceral fat or diastasis, aspirating more will not solve it.

Beyond aesthetics

the benefit is contour, proportion and body image, and that is how we present it, with data. Around 80% of patients report satisfaction with the result and about 80% would have the procedure again. And in the prospective study of 360 patients evaluating liposuction and abdominoplasty, those who had liposuction rated their aesthetic result at 8 out of 10 on average, 86% reported improved self-esteem and around 70% improved quality of life. In areas such as the inner thighs there is a practical benefit: eliminating the rubbing that causes irritation when walking or training.

Myth vs reality

“The fat comes back, or it moves somewhere else.” This is the question we are asked most, and the answer is reassuring. In a randomized trial, the subcutaneous fat removed from the abdomen did not grow back there: the cells that are aspirated are not replaced, and reductions in total body fat have been documented up to 1.5 to 4 years afterward. What does matter, and this is why we tell you, is your lifestyle after surgery. When nutrition and physical activity are not sustained, the body can accumulate fat in other compartments, particularly visceral fat, which sits inside the abdomen and which no cannula reaches. That is why liposuction is indicated in patients who already lead a healthy lifestyle: not because we demand perfection, but because your result is sustained by the same things that made it possible. And that is why we measure your body composition with InBody before and after, to support you in that.
