Circumferential Body Lift and Back Lift in Mexico City

After significant weight loss, excess skin is not only in front: it wraps around the trunk. That is why the approach is 360 degrees.

What it is and how it works

the circumferential body lift removes skin and fat around the entire trunk, simultaneously lifting abdomen, flanks, buttocks and outer thighs. A back lift focuses on the back rolls, those folds that show above the bra line. An abdominoplasty alone leaves everything lateral and posterior untreated, and the result looks unbalanced. This surgery is what completes the process for someone who has lost a lot of weight.

What it treats, in detail

How we do it here

here safety takes precedence over ambition. We plan in stages, almost always, because trying to solve everything in one procedure lengthens the surgery, and that is exactly what most increases risk. We work with controlled surgical times, temperature and bleeding control, and thrombosis prophylaxis. We assess your excess across all 360 degrees and define the traction vectors, which is the technical factor determining whether your waist looks narrow or the torso ends up square. Before operating we review your nutritional status with labs and correct deficiencies, because in post-weight-loss patients that conditions healing. In back lift, the scar is marked with you wearing your own bra, so it stays covered.

Who it’s for

if you have lost a lot of weight, through bariatric surgery, habits or medical treatment, and have excess skin around the trunk. Stable weight for at least 6 to 12 months, corrected nutritional status, and no smoking.

Who it’s not for

if your weight is still dropping or unstable, if your labs show uncorrected deficiencies, or if you smoke. In those cases operating compromises healing and greatly increases risk, and the right thing is to prepare first.

What to expect

  1. 01

general anesthesia with a regional block to control pain, lasting 2 to 6 hours depending on the areas treated.

  2. 02

We recommend one night of hospitalization to monitor you and manage pain properly.

  3. 03

Drains are placed in all our body contouring surgeries.

  4. 04

You will wear compression garments for 3 months, with first- and second-stage garments from a specialized Brazilian brand, changing stages as swelling subsides.

  5. 05

Your recovery is not just waiting: it includes an intensive physiotherapy protocol with lymphatic drainage, device-assisted therapy and dermatofunctional physiotherapy, with two clear goals, modulating fibrosis and getting the most from your skin’s retraction without leaving sequelae.

  6. 06

Hyperbaric chamber sessions are added to that.

  7. 07

Exercise at 4 to 6 weeks.

  8. 08

Final contour appears between 3 and 6 months, when swelling subsides and the skin finishes retracting.

  9. 09

It is the largest-magnitude body contouring surgery, so recovery is measured in weeks to months and is planned in stages.

Risks and what we tell you honestly

it is the body contouring surgery with the most complications, with reported rates up to 50%, mainly seroma, wound dehiscence and infection. Scars are extensive, permanent and encircle the trunk. Secondary procedures for residual laxity are frequently needed. The risk of thrombosis is real and actively prevented. For back lift there is something specific to say: the back is the area of the body with the greatest tendency to hypertrophic or widened scarring, because of skin thickness and tension, and it is the main trade-off of that surgery.

Beyond aesthetics

here the functional benefit is the greatest in our entire catalog. The skin apron that causes dermatitis and recurrent infections disappears, hygiene improves, and the ability to walk and exercise without the weight and chafing of the excess is restored. A meta-analysis concluded that the lower body lift is a functional rather than aesthetic procedure, given the high satisfaction reported despite the magnitude of the surgery. And there is one finding that reassures many patients: in studies with validated instruments, those who had a postoperative complication rated their overall result just as well as those who did not.

Myth vs reality

Myth

“If I am having surgery, do everything at once.”

Reality

we understand the wish, but it is not the safe path. Lengthening surgical time is the factor that most increases the risk of thrombosis, hypothermia and wound complications. That is why our default recommendation in these cases is to divide into stages. We would rather propose two well-done surgeries than one long one.
