Facial Fat Grafting in Mexico City
The face does not only fall, it also empties. And what empties is restored with your own fat, not with a filler that must be repeated.
What it is and how it works
over the years the fat compartments of your face atrophy and the bone resorbs. The temples hollow, the cheekbone loses projection, the groove under the eye appears and the lips thin. That loss of support is what makes the skin “excess” and fall. Fat grafting takes fat from your own body and places it in microdroplets, across multiple planes, to restore that structure. And there is an important difference from a synthetic filler: fat also brings a cellular fraction with a documented effect on skin quality.
What it treats, in detail
- Hollow temples and loss of cheekbone projection.
- Structural under-eye hollowing and periorbital depletion.
- Nasolabial folds and chin.
- Jawline definition.
- Lips and hands.
- A gaunt face after significant weight loss.
- Scars and skin quality, with nanofat technique.
How we do it here
we analyze your face by compartments, defining where support is missing and where nothing needs to be touched. We harvest the fat with atraumatic, low-pressure technique and place it in small amounts across multiple passes, to maximize graft survival. We use Visia analysis to plan the skin-quality component and standardized clinical photography for comparison. And we have an explicit criterion: conservative and progressive. It is better to fall short and do a second stage than to overdo it.
Who it’s for
if your face looks tired or gaunt, if you lost volume with age or after weight loss, or if you want a natural result without depending on periodic fillers. Also as a complement to a facelift, where it is now part of the standard.
Who it’s not for
if you do not have enough donor fat, if you smoke, because it significantly compromises graft survival, or if you expect an immediate and definitive result. And if your main problem is tissue descent rather than lack of volume, fat grafting alone will not correct it: there you need a facelift.
What to expect
- 01
local anesthesia with sedation when isolated, or general if combined.
- 02
The first days you will look overcorrected, and that is normal and expected: swelling is marked.
- 03
Social return in one to two weeks.
- 04
Part of the fat resorbs in the first months, so the final result is judged at 4 to 6 months, not before.
Risks and what we tell you honestly
resorption is the main limitation. Some of the fat does not survive, the proportion varies between patients and cannot be guaranteed, so a second stage is often needed, and we raise that from the start rather than as a surprise. There can be asymmetry, irregularities or nodules. And something important: unlike hyaluronic acid, fat does not dissolve with hyaluronidase. If volume is overdone, the artificial result is difficult to reverse. That is why a conservative approach is not timidity, it is technique.
Beyond aesthetics
beyond volume, the literature documents the effect of the adipose tissue’s cellular fraction on skin quality and on scars. And there is an increasingly common scenario: the gaunt face after weight loss with medical treatments. In those patients, restoring facial volume is what brings back balance between body and face.
Myth vs reality
Myth
“It is the same as a filler, just more expensive.”
Reality
no. A filler occupies space and must be repeated; the fat that integrates is living tissue and stays, and it also brings an effect on skin quality that filler does not have. That said, the trade-off is honest: part of it resorbs, the result takes months to define, and it cannot be dissolved if overdone. Each option has its place and we explain which suits your case.
