Sciton BBL Photofacial in Mexico City
It is the most powerful IPL on the market, and the only one with a published study showing it “rejuvenates” the skin’s genetic pattern.
What it is and how it works
BBL is high-power broadband intense pulsed light. It emits many colors of light that pigment and vessels absorb and turn into heat. That heat breaks up spots and capillaries, evens tone and stimulates collagen. It has different modes: one for pigment, a vascular one for redness, a blue-light one for acne, and an infrared one for some tightening.
What it treats, in detail
- Sun spots, age spots and freckles.
- Redness, rosacea and fine capillaries.
- Uneven tone and general sun damage.
- Active acne, with the blue-light mode.
An interesting, well-documented plus
In a Stanford study, regular BBL shifted the gene expression pattern of aged skin toward a younger one, including genes linked to longevity and tumor suppression.
Who it’s for
light to medium skin with sun spots, redness or sun damage, looking to even tone, look fresher and keep skin healthy long term.
Who it’s not for
if you have darker skin, IPL is riskier and we prefer another option such as Spectra, because it can leave marks. Also not with recent tan or sun, melasma (heat can worsen it), pregnancy or active herpes.
What to expect
- 01
usually 3 to 4 sessions every 4 weeks for spots and redness, with maintenance 2 to 4 times a year.
- 02
Spots look darker for a few days and then flake off.
- 03
Low social downtime.
- 04
Sun care.
Risks and what we tell you honestly
on darker skin there is a real risk of marks, which is why we are selective. Melasma requires caution. And about the famous genetic effect, we tell you plainly: it is a promising pilot study, but it does NOT mean BBL prevents skin cancer. What we can say is that it reactivates genes linked to youth. At Aryx we have several technologies that overlap and are complementary; in your consultation we define which suits you best or whether combining them is better.
Myth vs reality
Myth
“BBL prevents skin cancer.”
Reality
no. A study showed it reactivates genes linked to youth and tumor suppression, which is fascinating, but it is a small pilot and does not prove it prevents cancer. We tell you honestly: it is rejuvenation with good science behind it, not a shield against cancer.
